Sometimes I get caught up reading about the lessons and strategies to improve a skill, such as writing, to the point where I spend more time planning rather than taking action.

So I definitely agree that we can’t get too attached to the mistakes because the imperfections of our abilities are what will allow us to reach the next level in our craft.
